Dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where a store doesn't keep the products it sells in stock. Instead, when a store sells a product, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer. As a result, the merchant never sees or handles the product.
The biggest difference between dropshipping and the standard retail model is that the selling merchant doesn't stock or own inventory. Instead, the merchant purchases inventory as needed from a third party – usually a wholesaler or manufacturer – to fulfill orders. This correlates directly to minimizing initial sunk-costs.
For those of you who prefer a simplified version of what dropshipping is: you make a list of popular items from wholesale stores. You build a website and list these items for a higher price than what it’s costing you. With the right marketing strategies, you drive tens of thousands of customers to your store, and when they purchase something off your store, you purchase the item from your wholesaler and have it delivered to their address. You’re the middle man, profiting off the markup margins.

Easily Operate – Running an e-commerce business is much easier when you don't have to deal with physical products. With dropshipping, you don't have to worry about:
Managing or paying for a warehouse
Tracking inventory or managing stocks
Handling returns and inbound shipments
Being liable for product defamation
Low Sunk Costs – Because you don't have to deal with purchasing inventory or managing a warehouse, your overhead expenses are quite low. In fact, many successful dropshipping businesses are run from a home office with a laptop for less than $100 per month. As you grow, these expenses will likely increase but will still be low compared to those of traditional brick-and-mortar businesses.
Flexible Location – A dropshipping business can be successfuly operated from just about anywhere with an internet connection. As long as you can communicate with suppliers and customers easily, you can run and manage your business.
Product Selection – Because you don't have to pre-purchase the items you sell, you can offer an array of products to your potential customers. If suppliers stock an item, you can list it for sale on your website at no additional cost.

It is absolutely worth it to start a dropshipping business. From personal experience, I have seen outstanding results from tons of individuals by utilizing this business model. Along with operating in the Instagram Influencer market, I now have the ability to travel around the globe, while working out of my phone. Not being locked into a 9 to 5 traditional “career” is the best, most liberating feeling in the world. With this model, you have the potential to make tens of thousands of dollars, while only doing a fraction of the work entailed in any other job.
